Let's discuss the F word... and it isn’t “fuck.” The f word I’m referencing is much worse, fragrance. It shouldn’t be news to anyone that the United States does a shit job at keeping the ingredients in our personal care products safe. The European Union has banned over 1,300 ingredients from care products that they’ve deemed unsafe or potentially unsafe. The United States, on the other hand, has only banned 18.
Fragrance is an umbrella term that allows companies to put whatever ingredients they want into our products without disclosing what those specific ingredients are. Most of the time, the ingredients include cheap and carcinogenic chemicals.
Any time you buy a product with “fragrance” listed in the ingredients list it’s like ordering a salad without having a clue what’s in it. You wouldn’t do that, so why would you buy a care product without knowing exactly what’s in it?
Companies hide under “fragrance” to slip harmful chemicals into care products. I like to smell good just as much as everyone else and I'd be lieing if I said I never wore perfume. But when I do I ALWAYS spray it on my clothes. Your skin is your largest organ and when you put anything on it that has "fragrance" listed in the ingredients, you're putting yourself at risk.
